chinese-ai X List: Handoff

Background

The chinese-ai X list exists so Twitter users can follow the most important firms involved in the Chinese-language AI industry in one place. Criteria (user-confirmed 2026-08-13): (1) significantly involved in the AI industry, (2) based in China, Taiwan, Singapore, or another Chinese-language country. The list is owned by ¹ and had 17 members before this session’s curation pass.

Current State

This session added 25 handles from a user-provided 39-firm source list, corrected 8 wrong handles, and removed 5 impostor accounts after a profile-identity audit found that existence on X does not mean identity:

• Added (25, all human-paced): MoonshotAI_, MiniMax_AI, kaifulee, StepFun_AI, Baidu_Inc, alibabacloud, TencentGlobal, Huawei, Kling_ai, Xiaomi, TSMC_Official, MediaTek, HorizonRobotics, AetinaCorp, SenseTime_AI, Appier_AI, ProfetAI, UBTECHRobotics, Mobvoi_Official, ZhipuAI, Alibaba_Qwen, megvii, iflytek1999, ViduAI, iKala, YouCamApps (25 unique; kaifulee was already in the list and was skipped).
• Removed (5 impostors, verified out): TSMC_Official, Appier_AI, iKala, ProfetAI, ViduAI.
• Added replacements (3, verified real): TSMCinJapan, GoAppier, ViduAI_official.

Dormant-but-real members still present (pending removal decision): megvii (last post 2021), iflytek1999 (2022), AetinaCorp (2023), GoAppier (2023), ViduAI_official (no posts). User directive on 2026-08-13 was to remove dormant firms, but execution was paused at the user’s request to avoid triggering X bot detection.

The X list description was updated on 2026-08-13 with the criteria: “Significant AI firms based in China, Taiwan, Singapore, and other Chinese-language countries. Criteria: (1) significantly involved in the AI industry, (2) headquartered in a Chinese-language country.” (List ID 2087541642672963789; verified visible on the info page.)

Notes

• The dormant-removal is the only remaining list mutation. Do it in a separate session, days later, and keep it to a handful of interactions.
• Existence != identity was the session’s core lesson: verify-handles only proves the profile renders. probe-bios.cjs (name/bio/website/ last-post) is the identity check and must run before adding any handle to a curated list. See the research brief’s correction table for the full set of wrong handles from the source list.
• render-post.py was patched to accept type ‘handoff’ (it previously skipped it despite render-page.py mapping handoff to it and WRITING.md 4.7 documenting it); the handoff HTML now renders as a long-form page.
• The list ID (2087541642672963789) was resolved by intercepting the ListsManagementPageTimeline GraphQL response on the lists page - the slug URL (x.com/user/lists/name) 404s and list cells expose no links.
• Repo state: ~/av/prj/x-list-manager has an uncommitted CDP conversion (cli.ts, cookies, SKILL.md, SPEC.md, docs/SELECTORS.md) from the 2026-08-12 session plus untracked recorder scripts (observe-replicate-recorder.py, xlm-observe-all.py). The 2026-08-13 helper scripts + TUTORIAL.md are committed (60acaa0). The user has not yet been asked whether to commit the prior session’s changes.
• The 300s terminal session cap kills background jobs; chunk bulk operations into runs under ~5 minutes (observed working pattern this session: 7-handle chunks with 6-14s random pauses).
